A great find in our unmowed pasture! Usually the pasture is mowed early in the season because of allergy sufferers. This year they decided to suffer as to allow it to be a nesting area for the birds who prefer this habitat. What joy to not only have Bobolinks, Dickcissels and Eastern Meadowlarks, but also new to us species like this one.
This sparrow, unlike some others, has a diet of mostly insects rather than seeds. And yes, including grasshoppers. This and any other bird are welcome to our abundance.
