Smart bird! At my bird feeders, the curve-billed thrasher rules. When the crissal thrasher first showed up, it was chased by the curve-billed for several days. Now the crissal sneaks in while the curve-billed is not around, eats quickly, and sneaks away again. Animal intelligence is always tricky to write about, but I'd say this behavior takes some planning, and understanding the other's point of view.

Inhabitant of desert washes and riparian thickets of the American Southwest and central Mexico, the Crissal Thrasher can be recognized by its long, down-curved bill, its long tail, and its reddish undertail. For me the easiest way to tell it from the Curved-bill Thrasher is this reddish undertail. It has a beautiful sweet sounding song.
